Many of you have already
received similar messages as to what is beginning to transpire in the budget
discussions by our government.
Having spoken with many of you I have heard some say; "we have been given a
great package we should be willing to do our part in the budget reduction by
accepting higher premiums, higher pharmaceutical cost and the likes."
Others have stated "not
only should we hold the line but we must fight for more, especially for the
currently serving."
Then others say "lets
negotiate for us retirees and let the folks currently serving feign for
themselves, after all how many of them are active in or even members of our
Posts, Chapters, or Associations?"
As one can see even amongst our selves the topic is very controversial and rift
with opinion. But now is the time we need to come together and through
awareness as to the facts of our situation; develop a plan, a strategy, to
counter what is certain to be a long and difficult period.
One way you can be part of and participate in this strategy is to contact your
U.S. Senators and Representatives and support the initiatives of MOAA and let your voice be heard. (MOAA
by the way has teamed with the other major veterans organizations to work these
issues.)
Now
is the time to get engaged, learn and get engaged.
We are ALL in this together.
Please feel free to share this message.
