COL Dale F Ellenburg is a native South Carolinian born in Easley, SC and from age 5 lived in Anderson, SC, where he and his wife, Mary Ellen reside today. He is a graduate of Clemson University. COL Ellenburg entered the Army at the end of the draft and Viet Nam era upon his graduation in May 1971. He was released from active duty in June 1972 and assigned to the Army National Guard of South Carolina for remainder of his commitment. COL Ellenburg then joined Milliken Textile Co, Inc and remained affiliated with the Army National Guard. In 1981 COL Ellenburg reentered active duty as an Army reserve officer on active duty, remaining in this status until 1984 when he left active duty to enter fulltime service with the Army National Guard of South Carolina. He has held the positions of Detachment, Battery/Company, and Battalion Commander. Along the way to command positions he held Platoon Leader, Battalion S-1, S-3, and XO positions. COL Ellenburg has also held assignments as a Logistics Officer, Army Logistics, Pentagon, Director of Military Support (DOMS) state of SC, Director of Plans, Operations, and Training for state of South Carolina (J-3), and Chief of Staff, 263d Army and Air Missile Defense Command. COL Ellenburg retired on December 31, 2006 completing 35 years of Reserve, National Guard, and Active Duty service. COL Ellenburg and his wife have two married daughters and seven grand-children.
