COL Warren Benson graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. While in the Army, he commanded several medical units with the 24th Inf Div in Germany and the 91st Evac Hosp stateside, was a medic with ARVN in Viet Nam, served as the chief financial officer for two Army hospitals and Brooke Army Medical Center, received his Master of Business Administration degree, was the contacting officer for OCHAMPUS (now TRICARE) and his last seven years was at the Pentagon and on Capitol Hill as Budget Director for Program 8M. He retired as a Colonel after 23 years of service. After his retirement, he served as a Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of two hospitals in Baltimore. For three years he had a business in Hilton Head, then return to the healthcare field with three health insurance companies, New York Life, Aetna, and Blue Cross of North Carolina. He was the Director and Vice President of the TRICARE medical programs in California, Hawaii, North Carolina and Virginia. He moved to SC in 2005 and serves on the volunteer board of the Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
